Loviisa Housing Fair 2023: Villa Kruunu
Villa Kruunu, a home of fresh air, is built near the seafront in Kuningattarenranta (‘the Queen’s Shore’), the venue for the 2023 Housing Fair in Loviisa. The stone house built by Lakka Kivitalot is designed by architect Virve Rosberg.
For the family of Ossi and Juuli Nakari, the magnificent two-storey Villa Kruunu is the home of their dreams. The design of the house pays particular attention to versatility and adaptability. The main house is accompanied by a detached sauna building which also serves as a remote work office and guest house. Soon to be a family of four, they hope that the new house will serve as their home long into the future.
-Adaptability is very important, because we are planning to live in this home for a very long time. The versatile design of the house will also enable us to entertain relatives and friends who are living farther away, Ossi Nakari explains.

The family will be moving to the Loviisa seafront from the Helsinki Metropolitan Area. Fresh and healthy indoor air in the home is very valuable for them.
-We have a lot of allergies in the family; our son even has asthma-type symptoms. Therefore, clean and safe indoor air is very important for us.
The family wanted to find a reliable and energy-efficient ventilation solution for Villa Kruunu. It had to be as easy to use as possible with advanced automation. With these criteria, the Vallox 145 MV ventilation unit was chosen for the main house, while Vallox 51 MV, a model suitable for smaller houses, was installed in the sauna building.
-We had a Vallox ventilation unit in our previous house, and we were very satisfied with it. This affected our choice. As we also want to favour Finnish products in our solutions, Vallox was a natural choice for us, Nakari summarises.

Vallox ventilation units are connected to the ABB free@home smart home system of the house, enabling ventilation control according to needs. The control panels of the units themselves are placed near the units, hidden from the eye. Ventilation may also be controlled remotely via the MyVallox Cloud service.
-Remote control is really useful in this house as the unit’s own control panel is downstairs. For instance, if you want to boost ventilation during a party, it’s nice to be able to do it remotely instead of having to run downstairs.

The future residents of Villa Kruunu appreciate energy-efficient and environmentally friendly solutions. They hope that their Vallox ventilation system will also make it easier to adjust the indoor temperature of the house. The stone house is heated with geothermal energy. On hot summer days, additional cooling is needed because of the large windows towards the sea. Therefore, the automatic cool recovery of the Vallox units is a very welcome feature for the Nakari family.
-The house has a really massive structure, which very efficiently keeps heat in ‒ and, hopefully, also out in the summer. However, the windows are large, so we expect that the ventilation unit will help us to keep the house cool in summer, in addition to the air source heat pump. In our old house, the Vallox unit was useful for cooling the indoor air.
Nakari says that there were no problems with the delivery of the ventilation units, and they were easily installed by a local HVAC contractor experienced in installing Vallox units. The installation sites were also easy to find. In the main building, the unit was placed in the technical space, while, in the sauna building, the smartest and aesthetically most pleasing solution was to integrate the Vallox 51 MV unit into the kitchen cabinets.
Nakari is already eagerly waiting for the final completion of the house so that the family can move in their new home. Vallox wishes them a wonderful time in Villa Kruunu, the family’s lovely new home with fresh indoor air.
