An honorary mention goes to the Vallox Delico product family in the Design category of the Plootu Fennica sheet metal product contest

Ventilation product manufacturer Vallox and Technology and Design House Huld developed a cooker hood range tailored to consumers’ needs, combining elegant design with excellent functionality. Today, the Vallox Delico product family is awarded an honorary mention in the Plootu Fennica contest at the Engineering Works Trade Fair 2024 in Tampere.

‘Cooker hoods are centrally visible to everyone in the home. Therefore, the perfection of both the technical solution and the design was essentially important, when we developed the Vallox Delico product family,’ says Product Design Manager Petri Koivunen from Vallox. ‘The choice of the final solutions focused on suitability, functionality and manufacturability.’

Vallox is known for combining high-quality ventilation technology with elegant, easy-to-use design. Vallox’s partner in the highly successful Vallox Delico cooker hood project was Huld, being in charge of product design as well as the mechanical and user interface design.

Iiro Laaksonen, Competence Manager, Innovations & Conceptual Design, Huld, takes the smoothly sliding steam collection part of the cooker hood as an example. The steam collection part, which promotes cooking smell removal from the hood, had to meet all the criteria listed by Koivunen. ‘With a skillfully designed sheet metal structure, the rail mechanism of the sliding part was hidden from sight, enabling an elegantly plain design while being easy to use at the same time.’

Honorary mention to Vallox Delico

Nine sheet metal innovators with their background influencers are awarded at the Engineering Works Trade Fair 2024 in Tampere. The Vallox Delico product family is one of the award winners, with an honorary mention in the Design category.

‘This year again, the jury of the Plootu Fennica 2024 sheet metal product contest had the pleasure to evaluate a group of excellent sheet metal innovations in three different categories. Once again, the jury was very impressed about the high standard of the entries and the innovations related to the use of sheet metal in different applications and products,’ says Advisor Reeta Luomanpää from the Sheet Metal Branch Association of Technology Industries of Finland, which arranged the contest.

The usability of Vallox Delico hoods is also increased by the illuminated touch buttons, which enable easy control of the hood or the connected ventilation unit. The glass front panel of the hoods is available in white and black, and the elegantly plain hood merges seamlessly with different kitchen cabinets.

The Plootu Fennica contests consists of three different categories: Design, Industrial and Educational establishments. The Design category is for designers and works in which design plays a major role. In the Design category, the evaluation of the entries focuses mainly on the design and usability of the product, the starting point of the product design and the finished complete product that can be rationally or creatively manufactured. All entries to the contest are on display from 19 to 21 March 2024 at the Engineering Works Trade Fair in Tampere, at the Plootu Fennica stand A1019.
