Environment
Environment is part of our operating policy. The most significant factors in Vallox’s operations that impact the environment are the materials, raw materials and energy used by Vallox’s production. We have taken small climate actions annually since the issue of our environmental certificate (2017). We strive to mitigate the environmental impacts of our operations, and we have made conscious efforts to reduce the amount of waste our operations generate. By paying attention to, for example, emissions from our company cars, we have successfully and systematically reduced these emissions and gradually transitioned to electric cars. Where possible, we favour energy-efficient solutions, and we are currently exploring the possibilities of renewable energy sources in our operations. Vallox’s environmental strategy sets our objectives for the coming years.
Environmental strategy
Sustainable development is part of Vallox’s operating policy, and we aim to bear responsibility for our products from their design phase to the end of their life cycle. We heard our customers and stakeholders in the development of our environmental strategy and the objectives of the strategy were inspired by customer and stakeholder surveys. Vallox’s environmental strategy includes an environmental roadmap that has helped us determine the steps that must be taken to reach our goals.

Environmental product declarations (EPD)
Environmental product declarations are documents verified by an accredited third party that describe the environmental impacts of our products for their entire life cycle. To prepare an environmental product declaration, we must first assess the environmental impacts of a product for its life cycle (Life Cycle Assessment, LCA). Then, the environmental impacts of the product can be calculated. Environmental product declarations are prepared according to standards ISO 14025 and EN ISO 15804 and the product category rules (PCR).

Carbon handprint
Carbon handprint refers to companies whose activities increase positive climate impacts for customers. This determines the amount of emissions saved by a company’s operations or solutions. The aim is to reduce the company’s carbon footprint, i.e. carbon dioxide emissions from the company’s own operations. The carbon handprint is not related to the carbon footprint. It is a separate indicator that measures the company’s climate impacts.
