Vallox Pureo was delivered quickly to Rovio Pet Foods
The Vallox Pureo air handling unit was delivered to Rovio Pet Foods Oy’s facility within a quick schedule. Experiences gained from the use and operation of the unit have been good.
In the autumn of 2020, new operating premises were completed for Rovio Pet Foods Oy in Loimaa, along the National Road 9. Tero Rovio founded the company when he noticed that nearly all dog food is being imported from abroad. In the new factory, dry food is manufactured for pets from Finnish ingredients. In addition to the production facilities of Rovio Pet Foods, the facility includes a small animal clinic, a factory shop, and the cafe-restaurant Laakee Deli. The Vallox Pureo air handling unit, which was delivered to the location quickly, serves the cafe-restaurant, the factory shop, and conference premises.
The change in plans also affected the ventilation need
The Rovio Pet Foods building includes various premises that are separate from the production facilities and have decentralised ventilation. A Vallox 245 MV serves the office premises, 096 MC serves the laboratory premises, and 90 MC serves the break and social premises.
As the construction project progressed, the purpose of the premises changed, which affected the ventilation plans. Originally, a salad bar was being planned for the southern end of the facility. However, the plans changed, and the salad bar was replaced with a cafe-restaurant. This change naturally affected the ventilation need of the premises.
-The change in the purpose of the premises meant that a more robust ventilation system was needed. We contacted Vallox because it is a well-known and reliable actor in the ventilation sector. It was also important for us that Vallox is a local company, says the CEO of Rovio Pet Foods Oy Tero Rovio.
The Vallox Pureo series includes four different-sized AHU units for various kinds of operating premises and with a rated airflow of 500 – 1800 dm³/s. The model chosen for the operating premises of Rovio Pet Foods is Vallox Pureo TX 900, delivered as a terminal block unit.
Rovio emphasises the input of a skilled HVAC engineer during construction projects.
-From the constructor’s point of view, a knowledge of valid standards and official requirements are among the key competencies expected from the HVAC engineer selected for the project. The engineer must also be able to communicate with the equipment supplier to ensure that the purchased equipment is perfectly suited to the premises.
Vallox Pureo terminal block unit with a quick delivery
In the operating premises of Rovio Pet Foods, building technology, such as ventilation, is controlled through the house automation system. Vallox Pureo, which was delivered as a terminal block unit, is excellently suited to such use.
-When we were contacted and asked about a unit that would suit the restaurant premises of the facility, we were able to supply a unit with the required accessories almost immediately, says Vallox Oy’s Product Manager Juuso Nyström.
The internal sensors and the actuators of the segment defrosting dampers are wired to the unit’s terminal block before delivery, which means that they do not need to be installed on site and the airtightness of the unit is not compromised.
The Vallox Pureo air handling units can be supplied with an assembly that best serves its intended use. In the case of Rovio Pet Foods Oy, the unit was delivered with, e.g., a pump group.
Excellent maintenance and user experiences of the Vallox Pureo unit
Tero Rovio says that he expects the ventilation system to be reliable in terms of its use and maintenance, and provide efficient ventilation. As regards maintenance, Rovio Pet Foods uses a professional: a local HVAC company replaces the filters and carries out all other required maintenance measures. The maintenance of the unit is made easier by the alarms of the house automation system, and the large and easy-to-open maintenance doors.
For the customers of the restaurant and the factory shop, the main aspect of ventilation is that it is quiet and unnoticeable.
