Mounting the Vallox 101 MV ventilation unit on the ceiling by using the ceiling mounting plate

Watch the video to see how the Vallox 101 MV ventilation unit was mounted on the ceiling by using the ceiling mounting plate in 2018.

In the As. Oy Nopolankoski terraced house, completed in the autumn of 2018, the apartment-specific ventilation is implemented by using the Vallox 101 MV ventilation units. The units were mounted on top of the washing tower in the bathroom of each apartment. The compact ventilation unit is controlled apartment-specifically by using the MyVallox Control control panel. The residents can also register their unit with the free MyVallox Cloud cloud service, enabling the efficiency and settings of the ventilation unit to be controlled remotely e.g. through a smart phone.

Installation of the Vallox 101 MV ventilation unit

The package sent from the factory contains everything that is needed for the installation. Wall mounting supplies are always delivered with the Vallox 101 ventilation units. A ceiling mounting plate was ordered as an accessory because the ventilation unit was to be mounted on the ceiling. The plate was mounted firmly on the ceiling structures by means of 8 mm thread bars before the actual unit was installed. The ceiling mounting plate has the duct outlets in the locations required by the ventilation unit, which makes the later installation of the unit easier. Screws located above the ceiling mounting plate were fastened so that the ceiling mounting plate was horizontally level. The levelness of the ceiling mounting plate was rechecked when the unit was installed. The installer also checked that the insulation rings were in place in the outlet collars underneath the ceiling mounting plate.

Because the installation was in the Nopolankoski apartments completed using the ceiling mounting plate, the total height of the unit and the ceiling mounting plate (without the condensing water seal) was only 475 mm. The height always depends on whether the concealed installation method is used or whether the ceiling mounting plate is installed fully below the ceiling surface. In such a case, no mouldings are needed and the end result is always tidy. See the product-specific installation instructions of the ceiling mounting plate for more detailed installation measurements.

Because the unit weights 50 kg, two men were needed to lift it into place. A pump jack was used to lift the unit close to the ceiling and only the final part of the lifting was completed manually. The door of the ventilation unit was removed for the duration of the installation work in order to release the locking devices of the mounting hooks at the bottom corners of the ceiling mounting plate.

When the unit was close to the ceiling, wires and the connection box were led through the opening in the ceiling mounting plate above the ceiling and further on to the maintenance hatch made in the ceiling. The maximum distance of the maintenance hatch from the ceiling mounting plate is approx. 500 mm. It is also advisable to leave a space of roughly 30 mm in the ceiling structures for a power socket.

During the lifting, the outlet collars of the ceiling mounting plate directed it into the right location. The locking of the unit was easy to ensure because the locking devices push in when the mounting hooks lock in place. They also enable the unit to be removed from the plate later.

MyVallox as the control panel

In connection to mounting the Vallox 101 MV ventilation unit, a MyVallox Control control panel was mounted on the wall. The control panel allows the residents of the Nopolankoski housing company to adjust the efficiency of the ventilation based on need. Read more about the easy control of MyVallox.
