How does Vallox take care of wellbeing of employees?

Vallox has about 150 employees in different kind of positions. The wellbeing at work is our common interest in the company.

Vallox has long traditions in promoting the wellbeing at work by doing things together both at work and in leisure time. We feel that fostering wellbeing – as well as good team spirit – is good for people and the organization. All our 150 employees take care of themselves and their colleagues.

-We have a good team spirit. For example, we enjoy flexible working hours that enable combining work and family life when needed. According to the feedback I have received, Vallox as an employer takes into consideration different situations in life. We have a culture for open discussion between superiors and workers, tells Tiina Vahalahti, who works as a HR Secretary in Vallox.

Health, safety at work and proactiveness

Vallox offers vast occupational health services and insurance coverage for its´ employees. Thanks to the insurance, the workers can for example get quickly to a knee-surgery, if needed. And return to work in better condition.

-This voluntary insurance offers certainty and peace of mind. If something is to happen, it is possible to get help. The goal is that our employees are well and healthy even when they retire from work.

Workplace wellbeing relates also to good working ergonomics. Vallox pays a lot of attention to working equipment, position and working space. Individual needs are taken into consideration as much as possible. The wellbeing surveys made periodically show that several matters are made right.

-Due to Covid-19-pandemic we were facing a challenge: many workers started working remotely at home. At first, we guided employees how to make their working conditions as ergonomic as possible. The feedback was positive, but the survey showed also that many had difficulties to tahe the breaks during the workday. We are constantly trying to find solutions to these kind of matters.

Sports, culture and wellbeing in leisure time

As a occupational benefit Vallox offers its employees ePassi application with which allows them to acquire freely the wellbeing services they want such as sports, culture or other wellness services. Before 2018, when ePassi application was taken into use, the employees were offered possibility to go swimming, use the local gyms, play tennis, and get a massage. Many workers also gathered to play chess, volleyball or Finnish baseball.

-We ended up introducing ePassi application because it gives more freedom to choose how one wants to spend his leisure time, also for those workers who live and work outside of Loimaa area.

The majority of employees use the offered benefits and in quite a various ways. Thanks to ePassi, the cultural services have become more popular. During Covid-19-pandemic Vallox employees have also purchased e.g. virtual exercise services and training programmes.

Tiina, who has worked for three years as a HR Secretary in Vallox, has used her personal wellbeing benefits to the full extent annually. She loves to go to the concerts and happenings and visits the masseuse regularly.

Leisure time spent together

Vallox has an entertainment committee, comprised of voluntary employees, which organizes various activities, such as company outings, happenings, summer festivals, Christmas parties and trips that are partly funded by the company. Many of these events consist of some activity in the day-time and more relaxed gathering in the evening.

-Often the employees can bring a partner, and some of the outings are intended for the whole family.

Some Vallox employees also play ice hockey weekly together with the staff of other companies in the region.

As a specialty, Vallox offers its retired employees possibility for a weekly visit to the swimming hall. In addition, Vallox seniors have been annually invited to summer theatre and visit to the factory, not to forget the traditional Christmas lunch where both pensioners and current employees meet and greet. These events are full of community spirit!

-Pensioners are an important interest group for us. These gatherings are happy reunions: full of remembering and meeting old friends.
