Super season of volleyball for Loimaa

23.6.2025 | Hurrikaani-Loimaa

In the past winter and summer, Hurrikaani-Loimaa and Jankko lentopallo have given the public exciting experiences and plenty of volleyball. The flagship of the city of Loimaa, Hurrikaani-Loimaa successfully reached the finals of the Finland Volleyball League for the second year in a row. The final was a rematch between Hurrikaani-Loimaa and Akaa-Volley, and this time the trophy went to Akaa. Last year, Hurrikaani-Loimaa celebrated the first Finnish Championship of the club’s history.

The two last seasons have proven that Hurrikaani-Loimaa has deserved its place among the elite clubs of Finnish volleyball. Hard work, favourable conditions and a strong team culture have helped the club become the kings of volleyball. Hurrikaani-Loimaa has also succeeded in filling the seats. Year after year, the club’s average audience attendance is the best in the league. The club’s activities outside the court have also deserved praise.

Local clubs support children’s and youths’ sports activities

Hurrikaani-Loimaa and its parent club Jankko lentopallo have organised the Hyvän Tahdon Ottelu charity match four years in a row to donate exercise equipment for Loimaa’s day-care centres and elementary schools. Last year, over 100 companies and private individuals took part in this charity event. The local volleyball clubs want to contribute to the local community also outside the court. Some of their more visible activities include visits to schools and setting up school sports clubs as well as organising Trombilandia, a low-threshold sports event for children. With this work, Hurrikaani-Loimaa and Jankko lentopallo have assumed their role as a strong sports brand in the economic area of Loimaa. Vallox Oy has sponsored all these activities either directly or indirectly.

To honour Vallox Oy’s decades-long partnership with Hurrikaani-Loimaa, the clubs organise the Vallox volleyball tournament every year. Last winter, a huge number of youth team players across Southwest Finland participated in the Vallox tournament. The close cooperation between Hurrikaani-Loimaa, Jankko lentopallo and Vallox Oy to support youth sports has grown steadily thanks to Vallox Oy’s sponsorship.

In the first week of June, Loimaa and its neighbouring municipalities were taken over by the Power Cup tournament

Although the volleyball league seasons finished in mid-May, the greatest tournament was still waiting ahead. A few years ago, Hurrikaani-Loimaa and Jankko lentopallo applied for the right to host the largest youth volleyball tournament in the world – Power Cup. After being awarded the right to host the tournament in summer 2025, the clubs began to organise the event at full speed.

When a city of Loimaa’s size hosts over 10,000 people from all over Finland in one weekend, you simply cannot avoid hearing about it. The event also shone the spotlight on Loimaa as a city and its local businesses.

Nearly 5,000 matches were played and over 55,000 hot meals were given out at Power Cup. Nobody in the economic area of Loimaa could avoid youth volleyball this weekend. The organisation of the largest volleyball event in the world requires a massive contribution from volunteers to succeed. Hurrikaani-Loimaa and Jankko lentopallo recruited over 1,000 volunteers to help run the event smoothly.

Special thanks are due to businesses that sponsored the event financially. Every playing field, eight in total (there were 240 courts), were sold to sponsors. Vallox Oy was, naturally, one of these sponsors. Vallox was present in the tournament’s largest field with various publicity elements.

The Midsummer is now behind us and the summer holiday season is rapidly approaching, and the Loimaa volleyball scene can finally slow down a little. But only a little. Although no league games are played in the summer, other club activities and youth training are at their peak. The next task on the agenda is to plan the next season. Next, Hurrikaani-Loimaa and Jankko lentopallo will be present at the farm fair OKRA in Oripää. The clubs have traditionally managed and organised the largest airfield restaurant in the area. After this event, the clubs will be partnering with the KuissiRock music festival for the eighth time in a row. Finally, before the start of the actual league season, the clubs will participate in the Rompepäivät flea market. You can buy a season ticket to Hurrikaani-Loimaa’s matches at this event.

This summer has seen a lot of planning, events and activities, and an outstanding number of volunteers have participated in the clubs’ events. The efforts of nearly every local individual and company were needed to successfully organise all the aforementioned events. Without Vallox Oy’s support, organising these events would have been significantly more challenging. The cooperation between Hurrikaani-Loimaa, Jankko lentopallo and Vallox Oy has been fruitful for all parties. The cooperation has only grown closer over the years. Everything is founded on trust. Trust makes cooperation easy and efficient. Hurrikaani-Loimaa wants to thank Vallox Oy for the past season. The club wishes a warm and sunny summer for all Vallox Oy’s employees.

See you in the court in autumn!
