Vallox Introduces Moisture-recovering Enthalpy Technology to the Finnish market
No More Dry Indoor Air
Comfortable indoor air is not only about freshness. Temperature and humidity also play an important role. Ideally, the relative humidity of indoor air should remain between 30% and 60%, depending on the season and environmental conditions. However, many households struggle with air that feels too dry, particularly in winter, which can lead to issues such as dry eyes and skin.
Vallox ventilation units are now available with an enthalpy heat exchanger, providing a solution to this challenge. The enthalpy heat exchanger recovers both heat and moisture from the extract air and transfers them back into the supply air. Up to 70% of the moisture is transferred back to the incoming air, helping to maintain a more comfortable humidity level, especially during the heating season.
Traditionally, ventilation units in Finland have contained aluminum heat recovery cells, which transfer heat but not moisture. The operation of enthalpy heat exchanger is based on a polymer membrane that allows moisture to pass through via ion exchange. The membrane is airtight and keeps the supply and extract airflows completely separate, preventing odors and contaminants from being transferred between the air flows.
Enthalpy Heat Exchangers, Widely Used in Central Europe, Now Available in Finland
According to Vallox Sales Director Markku Marttala, the annual heat recovery efficiency of MyVallox CFi units equipped with an enthalpy heat exchanger is on the same level as that of units with traditional aluminum heat exchangers. “It is great to see enthalpy technology, which has been widely used in Central Europe for years, now available in Finland as well. The constant flow feature in MyVallox CFi ventilation units maintains the airflows at the desired level and keeps the system balanced regardless of external conditions. This helps to prevent issues caused by pressure differences. These units are available for homes of various sizes, and now they can be equipped with enthalpy heat exchanger, allowing homeowners to benefit from energy-efficient heat recovery without unnecessarily drying the indoor air.
