Environmental strategy

The goal of Vallox’s environmental strategy is to take responsibility for the full life cycle of our products. We want, for our part, to contribute to the sustainable development of our built environment. HVAC solutions often cause a large share of buildings’ total life-cycle carbon footprint. For this reason, we have drawn up Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) for our heat recovery units. The EPDs provide essential information to enable choices that promote sustainable development.

As sustainable development is integrated into Vallox’s operating policy, our goal is to take cradle-to-grave responsibility for our products, from the initial steps of the product design to the end of their life cycle when they are retired from service. We began preparing our environmental strategy by surveying our internal and external stakeholders’ views on environmental matters and the way they should be taken into account in Vallox’s operations and products. The survey results helped us to set the goals of Vallox’s environmental strategy. They are described in the image below.

Our product EPDs are linked to our overall environmental strategy goals and put them into practice. To draw up EPDs, the first step is a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) which assesses a product’s environmental impact throughout its life cycle. Clearly communicated LCA results promote environmental awareness. Furthermore, they enable us to identify ways to reduce the environmental impact of our operations and products.

Turning our strategy into action: our next steps

Vallox’s environmental strategy includes a road map. It is a plan that helps us move forward in our sustainability efforts. It contains a set of annual actions that will guide our operations, one step at a time, towards better environmental sustainability.
