The team has a good ten members and has designed the energy-efficient ventilation units, cooker hoods, and air heating units sold over the years and still on the market today. R&amp;D Engineer <strong>Kerttu Peltonen<\/strong> has been responsible for the Vallox 51K MV project, and <strong>Mikko Salokannel <\/strong>was responsible for the Vallox 51K CFi unit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The draft phase of the kitchen solution<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/vallox.com\/en\/product\/vallox-51k-mv\/\">Vallox 51K MV<\/a> is a kitchen solution launched at the beginning of 2019. It is a combination of a ventilation unit and a cooker hood and is integrated with the kitchen cabinet similarly to other kitchen appliances. This helps save space, especially in small apartments. The drafting of the concept started few years previously together with a larger team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cFirst, the idea was developed by brainstorming with a larger group&#8221;, says Peltonen about the first steps of the product. &#8220;Once the more detailed specifications and goals had been defined, the product development team had a couple of dozen different drafts, from among which the best one was identified through elimination. This is today the Vallox 51K MV.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Diverse work from measurements to drawings<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Peltonen and her colleague R&amp;D engineer <strong>Pekka Lepp\u00e4kangas<\/strong> were responsible for most of the practical work related to product development. With the maximum floor area of 75 m2, the final product is designed for one and two bedroom apartments, and for relatively small three bedroom apartments. This meant precise measurements from the prototype phase onwards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIn the development of Vallox 51, as always, measurements are taken of sound values, operating efficiency, and air flows. From the product development point of view, these set clear goals for the product.\u201d The product is rated in energy class A; equipped with an additional sensor, the class can be increased to up to A+.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Peltonen has worked for Vallox since 2005. According to her, the work of a product developer is very diverse. \u201cIn product development, 3D models are drawn of the product, prototypes built, and various kinds of values measured: this is exactly what makes the work so much fun.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The product was launched at the ISH fair in Frankfurt in March 2019. In addition to the cooker hood model, the product is also available as a standard model, i.e. a ventilation unit designed for small apartments. This can be installed e.g. above a toilet seat, where it takes up very little space in a small apartment. A cover panel that is mounted with a magnet covers the door screws. It makes the unit tastefully elegant!<\/p>\n\n\n    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><br>Continuous Development of Ventilation Units Led to the New MyVallox 51K<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Continuous product development resulted in the launch of a CFi version of the unit in 2025, meaning a model equipped with constant airflow technology. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vallox.com\/en\/product\/myvallox-51k-cfi\/\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/www.vallox.com\/en\/product\/myvallox-51k-cfi\/\">MyVallox 51K CFi <\/a>is a modern ventilation unit designed with a strong focus on energy efficiency, user comfort, and a stable indoor climate. It utilizes advanced technology that keeps ventilation balanced and under control in varying conditions, regardless of factors such as weather conditions or the building&#8217;s location.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to Project Manager Mikko Salokannel, the development of the CFi versions began from a very simple idea: to add constant airflow technology to the ventilation unit&#8217;s fans in order to balance supply and extract airflows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Our partners, namely the fan manufacturers, already had the required product portfolio available. However, in practice, this introduced a great deal of new measuring, testing, and modifications. The technical implementation and documentation of a heat recovery ventilation unit with constant airflow technology ultimately proved more labor-intensive than anyone had anticipated. Nevertheless, the end result speaks strongly in favor of its success,&#8221; says Salokannel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Constant Airflow Technology Gives the MyVallox 51K CFi a Major Advantage Over Its Predecessor<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The height and location of a building have a surprisingly significant impact on ventilation performance. In tall buildings or locations exposed to strong winds, external factors such as wind and temperature differences can create pressure fluctuations inside the building. These pressure variations may reduce living comfort and cause issues such as window condensation or the transfer of odours between apartments. In addition, uncontrolled pressure differences can lead to impurities entering the indoor air and moisture accumulating within building structures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The MyVallox 51K CFi addresses these challenges with constant airflow fans. This means that the unit automatically adjusts fan operation to ensure that airflows remain balanced under all conditions. The feature also helps compensate for separate exhaust systems, such as the use of a cooker hood, improving the reliability and overall performance of the ventilation system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>&#8220;Our objective from the very beginning was based on a clear vision that the benefits of constant airflow technology are undeniable. We also had a strong desire to be a market leader, setting the standard for other manufacturers. In addition to constant airflow operation, the biggest difference compared to traditional heat recovery units is undoubtedly the much simpler commissioning process. The ability to adjust airflow directly in litres per second, instead of relying on percentage-based controls and calculations from airflow charts, provides unprecedented benefits in terms of speed and ease of use,&#8221;<\/em> says Mikko Salokannel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Another key advantage of the unit is its integrated solution: ventilation and kitchen extraction are combined into a single device. This makes it particularly suitable for smaller apartments where space efficiency and aesthetics are important. Installed inside a kitchen cabinet, the unit remains almost completely hidden from view, leaving only a minimalist cooker hood with modern touch controls visible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><br>MyVallox 51K CFi Ventilation Unit Designed for Energy Efficiency<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>&#8220;Constant airflow units have received extremely positive feedback from the field, particularly regarding their ease of commissioning. For end users, they provide the benefits of fresh, balanced indoor air. For these reasons, despite the challenging situation in the construction industry, we strongly believe in the success of constant airflow ventilation units,&#8221;<\/em> says Mikko Salokannel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The unit has been designed specifically for smaller homes, such as studio apartments, one-bedroom apartments, and compact family homes. Its operation is quiet and discreet, yet highly effective. With an annual heat recovery efficiency of approximately 81%, the unit makes efficient use of the heat contained in extract air. Because extract air from the cooker hood also passes through the heat recovery system, energy efficiency is improved even further.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Serviceability has been carefully considered in the design. Although the unit is installed inside a kitchen cabinet, filter replacement and other maintenance tasks can be carried out easily. In addition, some electrical components have been designed as removable modules, making servicing even more straightforward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The MyVallox 51K CFi is a safe choice for kitchen installation, as its metal construction complies with fire safety requirements. Particular attention has also been paid to acoustic performance, ensuring efficient operation without disturbing everyday noise. The ventilation unit can be controlled through the cooker hood or, if preferred, with a separate control panel. When the cooker hood boost damper is opened, the ventilation unit automatically responds by increasing airflow, improving extraction performance during cooking.
